Hello! This is yet another journal entry where I say that it's been a long time, or that I should check back more often. I kept forgetting about DA because I've been so busy with a full-time job, and with my comic, but I remembered it again recently. I haven't drawn anything OS-tan related in a long time, but it's a series and a fandom I'll always be thankful for, even when it's not as active as it used to be.

It was the fandom I was the most involved with during my high school years, and where I met some of the most influential online friends I had, who were very influential to my writing and art. I lost contact with some of them, and I miss them. I read and enjoyed many of the OS-tan gag comic strips when I got started, and found myself wanting more. The concept of an expanded universe developing characters for vintage, hobbyist, and historical systems drew me in even further! I got a lot of practice writing characters from it.

My original series, Magical Renegades ~ Anathema to Commonsense (Tapas version), went through many revisions, but is now more than 150 pages into the final rewrite. This is well beyond any of the earlier drafts, and I'm happy I've been able to move forward with this! I almost gave up on this series altogether during earlier rewrites because I didn't plan them out very well, and they stopped being fun to write past a certain point that my motivation fizzled out. Some of the unplanned hiatuses and near-abandonment were because drawing OS-tan fanart and fan characters was a lot more fun and rewarding, and I had a lot more to work with.

I'm only a hobbyist with making webcomics, but to me, they needs to be fun and enjoyable to write and draw to keep the motivation for a comic going, where working on pages is looked forward to instead it feeling like another chore to do. The final rewrite was a massive overhaul that prioritized worldbuilding, better pacing, character development, character designs and backgrounds that were fun to draw, and fight scenes that were fun to draw and write. It's a lot more fun for me, and I have a lot more ideas for it. There should be enough ideas to work with, but too many at once can be a problem too. Sometimes I had a hard time coming up with any OS-tan drawings because there were so many ideas that it was hard to decide what to draw, and in what order.

Thanks to everyone who's still favoriting my OS-tan stuff since I last posted here! That's encouraging and I hope I can get back to drawing some ideas I had. I had to prioritize my original series because of how long each page takes to make. It was my focus for all of last year and most of 2017. My 2018 art summary was posted to my gallery a few days ago to show it.

This year, I'm trying for some balance drawing some other things while keeping comic updates steady. I want to post the finalized Magical Renegades pages here, but I feel want to fix up the early pages yet again, which I did for some of them when posting them to Tapas, and with more than 150 pages, it'd take a while for me to post them here.

The last time I posted here was last January. I ended up being so busy that I forgot about this place altogether. I got a full-time job, and was trying to balance that with working on my original series, and trying to promote it. Magical Renegades is now at more than 120 pages in its final rewrite, having reached the 100 page milestone last May. Since it has so many pages, would it be worth trying to post them here? I used to post all of my comics on dA before I started using SmackJeeves for comic hosting.

In that time, I never completely forgot about the OS-tan fandom, and I appreciate that some of the OS-tan pictures I drew are still getting favorites! Thank you for the favorites! :)

I got introduced to a few more anime that now become among my favorites: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and Outlaw Star, and I'm also looking forward to FLCL Alternative! I vaguely remembered Outlaw Star from a long time ago, but I was happy to see it air again and see the finale when I almost missed it!

Despite balancing work and an original webcomic series, I hope I can make the time again to make some more OS-tan drawings. I've had a few ideas recently, an remember some story ideas from years ago I wanted to get to.

Happy new year?

1 min read
I haven't used my DA for several weeks, and feel bad that I've lost touch with pretty much everyone I used to talk with on here. What happened? :(

Other than that, I've had a pretty good new year, my family and our neighbors celebrated the new year together, and I'm sooooo glad that the semester is over. Those finals were the most difficult I've ever had! @_@

I'm usually too much of a procrastinator to study for even half an hour but I was compelled to finish reading "The Shadow of the Wind" and type up a study guide because I had to get done reading it for Literature class today because I know there will be a test, and also because I know someone in the class who left his book in his locker and otherwise doomed to fail the test by printing a study guide for him.

The other reason I was up for seven hours reading was because "The Shadow of the Wind" is a fantastic story! So many bizarre plot twists and surprises, it was awesome! It was amazing! Sure, I could have read through the rest of the plot on one of those study guide websites but I seriously felt like reading through the rest of the book and typing up a study guide myself even though I had about 100 pages to read, but I got through it from about 19:45 to 2:45, and I'm still wide awake!

I sure am glad spring break has started!

I'm just staying home the whole time, surfing the internet, drawing and whatnot so it's essentially an extended version of my regular weekends. I also got my final report card for last trimester, and they are the best grades I've ever had! (fortunately that is saying something, though with 2-3 open hours each day that trimester, there was no excuse whatsoever for me to fall behind).

I just got done watching "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" (yes! I saw the famous "No, Luke. I am your father!" scene!) and just got started watching "Commando"!

But is it seriously wrong that I claim to be a geek, yet I haven't actually seen Star Wars until this year? I've seen the first two movies of the first trilogy.

Speaking of Star Wars, I remember that earlier this school year in literature class when we were discussing a hero and its themes, there were a lot of Star Wars examples! I couldn't follow along very well but I didn't dare be the person to ask or confess because as we all know that pretty much everyone in western civilization who hasn't been living under a rock for the past 30 years is familiar with Star Wars! ^^;

Yesterday was great and in literature class, there was a pop quiz I was actually prepared for! There was a previous pop quiz, one question related to "All Quiet on the Western Front" but I didn't get it right because I remembered just about everything from that chapter EXCEPT for what the question was about. Don't you just absolutely HATE when that happens?

The first question for this 2-part pop quiz was very simple: "What is your literature teacher's name"?. I jokingly wrote down "The Fonz" and the teacher laughed when he read that! :XD:
